CamBam Where to download CamBam for Windows?

Topic: Import .stl file (Read 12291 times) Hi,The only compatible file format that describes a 3D object between Solidworks and CamBam is a .stl file. I have exported a very simple block object from Solidworks and opened it in CamBam - No problems! However, once in CamBam I cannot seem to be able to do anything with it as it is a "surface". I have tried exploding it, converting it to a polyline - but nothing works. I want to be able to import parts designed with Solidoworks and generate toolpaths with CamBam and then export the .nc files. There must be some route through as CamBam does support the .stl file format - I am jsut unsure of how to work with it!?Regards,Tom Logged try Draw->Surface->from Mesh FileYou can also use a 3rd party programme like Meshlab to convert your file to .3ds which can be directly imported and machined in CamBamI am currently using Rel 6 Rev c Deadly Donkey « Last Edit: May 10, 2009, 20:09:48 pm by Bertram » Logged Remember: You are unique....Just like everyone else! Hi Tom.Have you tried selecting the object and applying either a 3D Bas Relief, or 3D Profile MOP, which are under Machining in the Menu?Martin. Topic: CamBam plus V1.0 (new development release) (Read 200554 times) An new CamBam development release V1.0 (alpha 9) is (finally) available... This release is still in the early stages of public testing. All gcode output should be treated with caution! We do not recommend using this version for production work until it has undergone more testing and reached 'release candidate' stage.Version 1.0 now requires the .NET framework version 4 to installed.Framework 4 is installed by default on most recent Windows versions and is available to download for older systems. There are still a number of bug fixes and extra features being worked on for V1.0 so thank you again for your patience while we work to make this the best CamBam release yet!RegardsAndy Payne (10bulls) Logged Logged Filmed in Supermarionation Great news, thank you Andy!!!! And thank you to everyone that participated in early early testing. Happy Holidays to everyone.Don Logged Great news !Installed and running just fine. The script object feature is HUGE ! Expecting to use it a lot. There was a few incompatibilities with my plugins due to the API change. Solved by recompiling. Logged Great news.Where can I make small donation?Dejan Logged I would suggest the best donation you could make would be to test the new version and report back any issues found. If there was a financial aspect to THIS update I'm sure Andy would have made that clear. « Last Edit: December 22, 2016, 19:01:00 pm by EddyCurrent » Logged Filmed in Supermarionation Great news! Can this version and the previous co-exist on the same computer? How to handle that? Are there new entities that the older version would not recognize? Logged Hi,First thing I've noticed on launching the 1.0 version is that it loads noticeably faster than the previous stable version. So it's either been optimised or it's because the plugins don't yet load on startup. But where is this new "Rotary" group located? I can't see it anywhere... Grzegorz Logged And thank you to everyone that participated in early early testing.Sorry, I meant to say that in the original post... Thanks Guys! Also another huge thank you to David for testing and his great work on the forums. And to all the fantastically helpful forum regulars THANK YOU!!Installed and running just fine. The script object feature is HUGE ! Expecting to use it a lot.I am looking forward to sharing more examples of what the scripting objects (and other features) have been up to.But even more to seeing what uses you all can come up with. Where can I make small donation? No donations necessary. Please just put it to good use and make wonderful things! Can this version and the previous co-exist on the same computer? How to handle that? Are there new entities that the older version would not recognize?CB 0.9.8 should be able to open files created with V1.0, apart from script and bitmap objects (the file should still load but those objects will be missing). You can still make use of them though by 'exploding'

The axis orientatiions in whatever cad program you are using. This should be in the lower left corner of your drafting pagethe axis on your mill should be the same. In AutoCad it looks something like this Y ^ l -->X. Many people (well, some and I was one of them) have their axis set to the RIGHT FRONT . Mill Column [] Y ^ l XResult is a mirror image of what was produced by your cad program.Correct orientation is: Milll Column [] Y ^ lLEFT FRONTof Table -->x Think of it sort of like you write (assuming you write left to right). Not sure that is clear - and I may be all wet, but worth a shot.Bob@ BobsShop Logged MADD, How did you fix your problem? I too am cutting letters and images backwards. Is it in mach3 on another program likecad (inkscape) cam (cambam) ?j-sons Logged Read my previous post. Your machine is running backwards. Logged
