Inventiveness is customary at Garden party!We're almost at the end of this journey, but there's one last restaurant we need to visit, and that is Nibble and Noms.Nibble and NomsThis diner is owned by Whipped Cream who not only provides her thoughts on this blog, but runs another blog called That Bakery Story which has the same general format as this one but revolves around Restaurant Story's sister game.There are three main sections in Nibble and Noms, with each focusing on a different aspect of this most wonderful time of year. The first is an outdoor zone where, in a break from the norm, there isn't a total covering of snow. Instead it comes in patches, with the Dandelion Field flooring ensuring there is a small amount of snow on every tile, even if it's just a few flakes. The Snowy Fountain and White Christmas Tree both feature in this chilly area, while the Playful Parasol's brolly is a necessity if she is to keep dry!In the middle section we've once again got a warm and cosy theme. The Christmas Visitor overlooks a festive banquet being run by the Wedding Caterers. It was a shrewd move by Whipped Cream to include this particular decoration - on the face of it this piece just doesn't belong to a Christmas theme but it actually works really well. At the end of the area there's a range of goodies including the Cozy Couch and Wine Cart. Celebrate the holidays with these essentialepisodes of The Twilight Zone for the winter season, in order of originalair date.1.) "What You Need," season one, episode 12 (12/25/59) -This episode, which aired on Christmas, concerns a fantastic form of gift-giving. A meek old man helps strangers by giving them things they "need" but falls prey to an angry man who wants to use the old man's talent for personal gain. Adapted by Rod Serling from a story by Henry Kuttner and C.L. Moore, the episode eschews the original story's science fiction trappings in favor of the wintry atmosphere of a gritty urban noir. It is an effective treatment of the theme that no one should know too much about their own destiny. Here's Our Look at "What You Need." 2.) "A Passage for Trumpet," season one, episode 32 (05/20/60) -This episode marks the first of fourappearances by veteran actor Jack Klugman on the series and is often viewed as RodSerling’s version of It’s a WonderfulLife, the classic Christmas fantasy film from 1946. “A Passage forTrumpet” is essentially a retelling of Philip Van Doren Stern’s 1943 shortstory “The Greatest Gift,” which formed the basis of It’s a Wonderful Life. In that story, a man contemplating suicideis shown what life without him would be like and decides to backtrack on hisattempt to take his own life (life being the greatest gift of the title). JoeyCrown, from “A Passage for Trumpet,” is shown the ugly side of theafterlife after a suicide attempt and decides to remain in the land of theliving. Despite its derivative nature, the episode is an uplifting fable and featuresstrong performances from Zone regularsKlugman and John Anderson (as Gabriel,the horn-playing herald who shows Joey Crown the error of his ways). 3.) “The After Hours,” season one,episode 34 (6/10/160) -Nothing says Christmas like the rush of holiday shopping, and Rod Serling puts a truly unique spin on thetradition in this exceptionally creepy episode starring Anne Francis. Francisportrays a young woman seeking a gift for her mother who instead discovers a shockingsecret about department store mannequins. The journey to a secretlevel of the store is a particularly disturbing highlight. Francis gives anunderrated performance and the unsettling atmosphere of the episode is secondto none on the series. It comes highly recommended.4.) “The Night of the Meek,” season two,episode 47 (12/23/60) -The most overtly Christmas episode ofthe series certainly has its flaws but remains one
