It shows you your to-do list right on your homepage, so whenever you get sidetracked, you get a reminder when you pull up a new tab about what you're supposed to focus on. Then it asks you, what's your focus for today? and you get to set your intention and keep being reminded of it. The beautiful imagery & the quotes are all a plus, also. This issue has been haunting users in the realm of Chromium-based applications—Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, to name just a couple of notable suspects.The Vanishing Act: What’s Going On?​The elusive text cursor is a particularly tricky customer, poking its head up when it feels like it and disappearing when you need it most. This problem predominantly affects Windows 10 and 11 users using apps built on the Chromium engine, resulting in ghostly apsences right when you're in the throes of typing out an important email or a fiery forum comment. Imagine the cursor disappearing just as you’re about to hit 'send'.This predicament began gaining momentum with updates in the Windows 11 24H2, where users reported the cursor disappearing in text fields, especially in major platforms like Slack, Chrome, and Edge.How to Tame the Phantom Cursor​Don't pitch your laptop out the window just yet! Firefox followed suit quickly and added experimental support. Things were looking good.Then, on Halloween 2022, Chrome developers suddenly announced that they would be removing JPEG XL support. This decision was quite unexpected and controversial. In my blog The Case for JPEG XL, I argued why this decision should be reversed. In December, Chrome developers provided test results that were used to justify the decision and invited feedback. I analyzed the results and pointed out several methodological flaws and oversights. So far, my feedback has been ignored.Beyond browsers, adoption of JPEG XL continued, in particular in image authoring software like Serif Affinity, Adobe Camera Raw, GIMP, Krita, etc. Unfortunately, Chrome’s decision has slowed wider adoption in web browsers of JPEG XL.On June 5, 2023, at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC23), a slide was presented listing new features of the Safari browser, and “JPEG XL” was on the slide.
