Of me figure out how to close the program, so I ended up deleting Malwarebytes off my computer for the moment. But then the file still wouldn't delete because it was open in OneDrive, then DropBox. So I exited those programs as well.After getting all the original Huion files off my computer, I downloaded the driver from the link they gave me. I forgot to restart my computer and tried out the tablet on GIMP and krita and had the same problem as before. Then I realized I needed to reboot. So I did that, and then everything worked perfectly!I really don't know what I did wrong when I first installed the drivers, but I guess if the problem is solved now, I don't need to dwell on that.For the record, I still have the older version of GIMP installed (2.8.18) that someone else on this thread suggested. This version also helped me with another little issue I had where the icons were too small for a normal human to see.So hopefully if anyone else has this same problem, they can follow these instructions and have the good luck I did!Peace! Log out the Huion driver, close all drawing programs you arerunning, close your anti virus software.2. Uninstall the Huion driver from control panel.3. Find the "TabletDriver" folder from C:\Program files\ and deleteit. (If you are not able to find this folder, that means you havedeleted it already, and you may skip this step.)4. Go to C:\windows\system32 or C:\windows\system64, find"wintab32.dll" and delete it.5. Unplug the USB cable.6. Download driver from Huion website( and install it as anAdministrator.7. I tried out the tablet in another program andthat still worked. So it's just GIMP that's not quite doing it for me.Maybe I should use an older version than 2.8.18?If you choose paint brush tool there's dynamic setting in option tool to change the pen pressure style. Timely fashion. Life kinda got in the way and my trial of Designer has since expired. I am, however, going to purchase Affinity Photo today and hopefully all will go smoothly. I'm trying to decide if I should run with my old WACOM Intuos 3 PTZ-1230 or install the newer HUION WH1409. Any feeling as to which would be most likely to give the best user experience? Thanks. I'm in the process of evaluating Affinity Designer as I'm trying to work myself away from someone else's subscription model. I really liked Affinity Photo and expect to purchase soon. In the meanwhile I grabbed the Affinity Designer demo (v 1.7.2.471) to check it out. I have not been able to really get into it because I'm experiencing lock ups while using my graphics tablet. So far, it's happened while using the Vector Brush tool and the Pencil tool. I eventually get the little wait 'spinner' on screen and it just never comes back. This happened with my Huion 1409 (2048) tablet and then with my older WACOM Intuos 3 PTZ-1230 as well. The file has been nothing special... just a blank 8.5"x11" document where I've been trying out the various tools. I had recent drivers (12.4.2) from HUION but since they can sometimes be a little shaky I loaded up the WACOM with driver 6.3.15-3 (not the latest but known to work well with this Intuos tablet). My computer is running Windows 10 Pro on an HP z420 workstation, Xeon E5-1650 and 8GB RAM. Windows update to Windows 10, version 1903 installed on 8/18/2019 and is receiving regular updates. Event Viewer records the application hang: The program Designer.exe version 1.7.2.471 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed.
