Meta tags are still used by some search engines, including Google, to properly gather all the information about your website.Your meta description is a short description of your webpage content. Like your title tag, and all other meta tags, it should be unique for each one of your webpages. Provide a short description of what visitors should expect to see on your webpage. Search engines will use your description meta tag in the search results page right underneath the title tag.Your meta keywords are used by some search engines to determine what keywords your website should appear for in their search results page. Place a short list of targeted keywords in this field. Keep in mind that meta keywords are no longer used by most major search engines and do not provide instant results. If placing at the top of search engines were as easy as entering a few keywords, we would all have top ranking websites. Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. I would like to add alt-tags to my photos. I tried downloading and running Rage's iWeb SEO Tool, but it froze while publishing and then messed up my entire site (so much that I had to delete my site's directory and recopy it from my back-up drive). Tried it a second time and it froze again, so I deleted the program. Does anyone know a simple way to do this in iWeb '09, or freeware that's better than iWeb SEO Tool? Also ... is there a way to add keywords to each page by using an HTML snippet in the heading? Does anyone have the code for that? Style-sheets. These would be kept in the CSS folder within the main folder and each page would be linked to these CSS style-sheets from within the page’s header tags.iWeb however creates an individual folder for each page you create and also creates a separate CSS style-sheet within that page’s folder. These page folders also contain the page’s images and any extra scripts that you may be using. This goes someway to explaining why your iWeb sites will load slower than a ‘regular’ site because in effect a browser thinks that each page is in fact a new site. In the image below, which is taken from my themesforiweb site you can see all of the individual pages and the relevant folders for each page.So what can you do to get round this problem with the long URLs?The honest answer is not much. You can contact your domain name provider and/or web host and ask them about domain masking. This will ensure that only your domain name shows up in a browsers address bar but that is it. No page names just the domain name no matter what page a visitor is on.Quite frankly I would leave things as they are. Okay so it’s not the prettiest but then when was the last time you looked at a business card, advert in a newspaper or TV programme and the web address they gave you was ‘ Never right!! All you get is ‘www.domainname.com’. And this is all you have to give when you want people to visit your site.If site visitors find something they really like on your iWeb site they will bookmark your page for later, not remember the entire URL. As long as you provide good navigation for your iWeb site so users can get around easily and don’t name your site in iWeb with a really long and meaningless name there really is no problem with the URL iWeb gives you.In fact you can look at it as a bit of a bonus. Not only do you have your domain name to give you a boost in the SEO stakes, but you can give your site name a keyword rich title too, something ‘normal’ web designers can’t.I would be interested to hear your take on your iWeb site’s URL. 2025-03-26Loaded your website in iWeb SEO Tool, you will be able to see files and folders on the left hand side. Just a quick note for those who watched the tutorial on how to load a site in iWeb SEO Tool properly, you might have seen some text in these two fields here. Normally, these fields would be empty, but I had already added the text into those fields previously, so that is why there was text there. We’re going to talk about what to put in those fields later in this video. The first thing you need to do is select one of your website files with a .html extension. You will all see an index.html file in your website folder. Do not optimize this page. The index.html page is just for redirect purposes, so whatever you do, do not optimize the index.html file.So now you can begin adding your title tags, meta tags, and alt text to your site. I’m not going to explain what these items are, or the best way to create them because I want to keep this tutorial short. If you need to learn more about these items, I highly recommend purchasing the SEO For iWeb Walkthrough Video Tutorial. It’s only $29.95 and what you will learn in that course is worth much much more than this small price tag.On the Site Settings tab, there are two fields. One is for the Head code and one is for the footer code. What you should put
