More Than I Want To Remember
Need to ask before getting stuck in with what I think is right.Do you remember what we need to do next? I’ve got it written down somewhere, but I can’t find the notes.9. Do You Know“Do you know?” checks someone else’s knowledge to help give you peace of mind. It asks someone else whether they have the information you’re looking for.If they have it, they can help you feel more confident. If they don’t, you might need to ask someone else until you find a suitable helper.Do you know what he said? I don’t remember much about the meeting, and I really don’t want to let him down again.Do you know what I should do with all these moving parts? I feel like they’ve thrown me into the deep end, and I’m scared!10. I’m Checking to Make Sure“I’m checking to make sure” lets someone know your intentions. It shows them that you’re asking them what you need to do to make certain of something. Including “checking” shows that you’re taking the initiative to check with them first. This phrase is very useful when you want to confirm something with someone who knows better than you. It’s best to use this on someone who clearly has more experience than you and might be able to help.I’m checking to make sure I’ve got this right before continuing. Can you help me understand whether this is the correct thing to do?I’m checking to make sure I know what you’re asking of me. I want us to be in agreement before I waste my time with this stuff.11. I Need Your Help“I need your help” is a plea for somebody to help you, especially if you’re uncertain about something and they can fill in some gaps. It is synonymous with “I want to make sure” because it confirms all the details you might need to know when asking for “help.”Obviously, “I need your help” applies to many other contexts. In this case, the “help” in question relates to “making sure” of something. It helps you to confirm what you might already know.I need your help. More Than I Want to Remember (2025) Close. 4 of 4. Monday, August 23, 2004 7:23PMDear Friends~ So. Here it is. This is a strange countdown. To the end of an era. My era. Our era. And I cannot tell you how much it hurts to finally say good-bye. But here it is-- and the words just don't want to come out. There is so much to be said to all of you- every one of my friends, those of you whom I have been friends with since I was six to those of you whom I really, truly got to know this year. I wanted to tell you that I loved you all, and I have decided to write you all this letter. There have been so many meories formed, I cannot even attempt to touch on them all- so I won't even try. But let me tell you this- more than anything, I remember the small things. I remember conversations we have had, times that I have laughed so hard I almost peed my pants, and those (very few) times I have cried in your arms. I remember simple things, such as milkshakes or cookie races. I remember embarassing pictures, long car rides, blasting music. I remember these things, and I picture all of your faces- and I just don't know how to move on. Because, I know in my heart, that there will be no coming back. Nothing will ever be quite the same. And I know that I will never, ever have people quite like you all in my life. I just can't find the words to tell you what effect you have had on my life: you have all made me have faith- to be lucky enough to have known you, there must be a God- you have made me realize my potential, you have shown me true strength, you have given me love. I cannot imagine my life without any of you. And I don't want to... I simply cannot handle that. I can't tell you what is going toComments

2025-04-18Time, how marketing has changed? It moved from what the product has, to what it does, to how it makes people feel. It started out with an object created in a factory and ended up with an emotion created in a customer. It went from totally within the company’s control to partially outside it. And this trend hasn’t stopped. Today’s customers want more than products, more than features, more than benefits, even more than experiences. They want meaning. They want a sense of belonging. They want creative control over their life stories. And they’re likely to assemble those stories from all the elements they find around them, including products, services, and brands. “If I buy this product,” they seem to say, “what does that make me?” Now you can bring the time machine to a stop. We’ve arrived back where we started, at the dawn of the “meaning economy.” At this point I’d like to establish a working definition of brand, if only for the purpose of the book. Otherwise we might easily jump the rails with so many definitions of brand littering the tracks. I count six or seven common ones. Let’s start with the least helpful, and work our way to the most helpful. A logo. We can dispense with this definition quickly. A logo is not a brand— it’s only a symbol for a brand. A brand is much more than a logo. I remember leading a presentation in which the CEO pointed to a packaging mockup and asked, “Can we make the brand bigger?” I said we couldn’t, but we could certainly make the logo bigger. A bigger brand was not in the budget. A product. People often refer to products as brands, and I understand why. It’s shorthand for “branded product” or “branded service.” But
