Panzer General 3: Scorched Earth

Respect to. It sings its tune well and it will entertain fans of the original but, unlike the generals whose battles it represents, it fails to either innovate or inspire. As a big fan of the older Panzer General games (specially the 3D ones) I was enjoyed seeing another strategic game like those. It's got the great strategic gameplay from PG (capture map within an amount of days) which makes it very entertaining, but it's a shame it doesn't have the complexity of PG-3D with it's commanders who can do nice tricks when trained well. It DOES have commanders but it's very different. All by all I am enjoying this game very much. I'm glad some people still make and enjoy these kind of games. Cute mini-game :D very simplistic and seems almost indie like. Nice reminder of the old days, but not as complex as some of the old games. Unfortunately it's not bringing anything new to the genre and feels a lot like simplified PG knock off, with "cute" graphics. It's a solid game for newcomers to the genre, but after 30 years of gaming I can say "Veni Vidi Vici Multis Vicibus" to this one. So for old farts like me, I'd only recommend it if you got nothing bigger to play :D Summary The year is 1939 and the world is on the brink of one of the largest military conflicts in the history of mankind: World War II!Experience history first-hand and join the Soviet Red. The Public Generals (Chapter 3) - Hitler's Panzer Generals

His position strongly supported by the commander of German armored forces in the West, General Leo Geyr von Schweppenburg. The Rundstedt-Geyr von Schweppenburg operational solution basically posited that there was nothing they could do to prevent a successful Allied landing. Instead, they championed tactics much in consonance with German operational and tactical doctrine, as expressed in Die Truppenführung (Troop Leadership), the Wehrmacht‘s basic doctrinal manual. The two generals argued that German forces in the West should concentrate available armored forces for a massive counterattack against the Allies once they were ashore. From their perspective, the panzer forces should be held back from the coast; then once the Allies had landed, the panzers would concentrate and move forward to counterattack. German armor would also then be available to execute a mobile defense that would utilize superior Wehrmacht training, tactics and equipment. In retrospect, Rommel had a far better understanding of the military situation than either Rundstedt or Schweppenburg, who failed to give sufficient weight to the power that the Allies’ air forces could bring to their attack. With the Luftwaffe deeply engaged in opposing the strategic bomber offensive over occupied Europe and in the East, it could do little to prevent swarms of Allied aircraft from destroying any large concentration of panzers the Germans were able to assemble. It would also prevent any sort of mobile defense. The inevitable result would be a huge Allied army advancing across Europe and the Reich’s final defeat. Moreover, Rommel believed imposing heavier losses on the Allies would only serve to make them eager to impose a harsher peace on a defeated Germany. In the end, the Germans instituted neither defensive concept. They did not deploy their armored reserves close to the beaches — as Rommel had wished — or in a concentrated reserve as Rundstedt and Schweppenburg had advised. Instead, Hitler placed the panzer and Panzergrenadier divisions under the OKW; thus, only he could authorize their movement forward to meet the Allied invasion forces. And if the Führer was not available to make that decision, nothing was going to happen. Because neither Rommel nor Rundstedt was in command of the reserve divisions, the chance of rapid intervention against Allied landings by the available reserves had evaporated even before the first Allied troops waded ashore. Two relatively small incidents, one in which Rommel’s superiors overruled him and the second where a subordinate deliberately disobeyed his direct orders, played a major role in the successful American landings on D-Day. In the first case, Rommel requested permission to move the fanatical Hitler Youth volunteers of the 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend to Carentan, which unknown to the field marshal was to lie equidistant between the American landing beaches of Omaha

Own good. Both Theatre of War missions and multiplayer matches feed back into a central character: your own general, an upgradeable fellow who can select his combat bonuses, signature units and vehicle camouflage.I went for a shock specialist for his ability to field flamethrower tanks: nasty little brutes that can rumble into fortified positions before squirting out jets of fire. Generals have buffs and boosts that can be switched out once you've unlocked them – my Soviet Guards now have a 5% health increase after I used the unit to kill 40 Panzer Grenadiers – creating a compulsion loop that means I've already plotted how I'm going to go back and kill the next 250 tiny, pretend people. And despite the niggles and deficiencies I've pointed out here, I do want to go back and kill them. CoH2 takes its lessons from history very literally. Like the Red Army it depicts, it wages its war by throwing everything forward at once, and like that Red Army, too many casualties were left to die along the way. It's sometimes clumsy, a game that can't maintain all its systems, with too many disparate moving parts to feel consistently coherent. But the final result, despite the small losses along the way, is a winner. Panzer General 3: Scorched Earth - ABCgames.sk

*Pacific General is like a sister game to @SSI's *Allied General and *Panzer General, the original 5 Star Series games that created the powerful engine, with some Far Eastern refinement and improvements. This military epic allows players to command the allied forces, including the Americans, English or Chinese, or those of the Emperor of Japan. Like the actual war, the fierce Japanese bit for expansion starts well before the bombs landed on Pearl Harbor in December of 1941, and begins with the Japanese invasion of mainland China in the late 1930s. The Rising Sun rises over Asia and then to heads eastward towards the United States. Like previous 5 Star Generals, *Pacific General can be played as a continuous campaign or as individual scenarios and battles. The turned based system works well, allowing players to move, engage in combat and keep their units well supplied. *Pacific General's AI makes a worthy opponent with both the allied and Japanese forces. In addition, wargamers can play head to head via modem or over a network for the added challenge of trying to match wits with another live player. Like *Allied General, victory is determined by land captured and/or held during the battle as well as losses to each side's forces. This campaign in the Pacific also adds specialized naval combat rules for capital ships, aircraft carriers and air patrol. Night scenarios have been included to better reflect the war in the Pacific, where the Japanese often engaged in battle during the night.

The first volume is a reissue of the 1993 Popular edition, though it is a smaller format (18 cm x 13 cm) but the paper quality is even better (supercalendered). The second volume is the first ever compilation of Kerberos Panzer Cop Part II. It is dubbed "Conclusion" and was issued as a 10th anniversary of the Original edition, and also to coincide with the release of the theatrical adaptation, Jin-Roh, in Japan. Both volumes were issued within illustrator Kamui Fujiwara's works collection reissue.ReleaseBookTitleContents(•Extra)1999.06.25Kadokawa ShotenISBN 4-04-713274-8(B6, 200p.)"そしていま、戦いの犬が野に放たれる."犬狼伝説 (藤原カムイコレクション 1)Kerberos Panzer Cop (Kamui's Collection Issue #001)Act1~4 with Prologue2000.01.31Kadokawa ShotenISBN 4-04-713324-8(B6, 184p.)"立ち塞がる者あらば、これを撃て"犬狼伝説 完結篇 (藤原カムイコレクション 4)Kerberos Panzer Cop: Conclusion (Kamui's Collection Issue #004)Act5~8•Text 1:OrganisationFile 1:Organization•Text 2:Hauptstadt PolizeiFile 2:Capital Police•Text 3:KerberosFile 3:Cerberus•Text 4:FormationFile 4:Organic•Text 5:WaffeFile 5:Weapon•Text 6:AnmerkungFile 6:AnnotationZen edition (Part I & II / B5+CD)The Zen ("Complete Book") edition is a boxset reissue of the Frozen version including Acts 1~8 in a +400 pages single volume bundled with goodies.
