The Daily Prothom Alo (প্রথম আলো) is a major daily newspaper in Bangladesh, published from Dhaka, Bangladesh in the Bangla language. Prothom Alo is the second largest (based on circulation) newspaper in Bangladesh. According to National Media Survey 2014, conducted by MRB Bangladesh, more than 4.9 million people read the print edition of Prothom Alo every day. The online portal of Prothom Alo is the most visited Bangladeshi and Bengali website of the world. It started its journey on 4 November 1998. Prothom Alo was founded on 4 November 1998. The circulation of Prothom Alo grew from an initial circulation of 42,000 to a circulation of a half million copies. From press facilities located in Dhaka, Chittagong and Bogra, around 5,00,000 copies (as of March ‘2014) are circulated each day. According to National Media Survey 2012, everyday 5.1 million people read the print edition of Prothom Alo. The administration is not.Whenever the topic of BNP arises, Awami League says BNP is a party of martial law. It has no democracy. They do not hold regular councils. They form committees through press releases. But even though Awami League holds councils, it should be seen how many of the committees have been formed through the votes of the councillors. Most of the party's city, district and upazila committees are formed on the basis of orders from above. The names of the president and general secretary are disclosed after the councils, but it takes years for the full-fledged committees to be formed.In that sense, the difference between Awami League and BNP is superficial, not integral. Both the parties' constitutions have rules to create leadership through democratic process. But no one follows these rules. The power to take decisions is given to a single person.
