Ducati Sign in to your TopSpeed account The Ducati Streetfighter V4 is arguably the fastest naked motorcycle on the market right now. It not only makes crazy numbers but comes laden with wings and top-shelf electronics to help you churn out every ounce of performance available. Even after all this, though, many still believe it’s simply not fast enough to keep up with a 1000cc faired sportbike. So we did some digging and came across a drag race between a Streetfighter V4 and a Honda CBR1000RR SP } that will help find out whether the aforementioned statement is true. The Contenders The first contender here is the Ducati Streetfighter V4. Based on the lauded Panigale V4, it employs a 1,103cc V4 engine pumping out 208 horsepower and 123Nm. Oh, and since there are no fairings, the Streetfighter weighs just 180kg (dry). Going against the V4 is a 2019 Honda CBR1000RR SP. In typical Japanese fashion, the CBR is a pure liter bike featuring a 999cc, inline-four engine which makes 190 horsepower and 114Nm. Meanwhile, the motorcycle tips the scale at 194kg (wet and ready to go). Ducati Streetfighter V4 vs Honda CBR1000RR - Drag Race Judging from the aforementioned bits, the ball is in the Streetfighter’s court. After all, it makes more power and torque while weighing slightly less than the CBR. But this isn’t the full story. You see, even though the Ducati makes more power, it has an ultra-punchy (almost abrupt) power delivery, which makes it hard to launch, thus not letting it put the power down efficiently. Meanwhile, the CBR is more linear, making life easier from a standstill. However, once the standing start is out of the picture, the Streetfighter’s punchy power delivery and impressive power-to-weight ratio work in its favor, as it outruns the CBR in every roll-on race. Credit here also goes to the punchy V4 configuration of the Ducati. All in all, this race once again proves that the Streetfighter V4 is a bonkers naked motorcycle and it can very well take on the top-spec liter-class bikes with ease. All it needs for that is an experienced rider or a roll-on race.
