A submarine or a ship can float because the weight of water that it displaces is equal to the weight of the ship. This displacement of water creates an upward force called the buoyant force and acts opposite to gravity, which would pull the ship down. Unlike a ship, a submarine can control its buoyancy, thus allowing it to sink and surface at will. To control its buoyancy, the submarine has ballast tanks and auxiliary, or trim tanks, that can be alternately filled with water or air (see animation below). When the submarine is on the surface, the ballast tanks are filled with air and the submarine's overall density is less than that of the surrounding water. As the submarine dives, the ballast tanks are flooded with water and the air in the ballast tanks is vented from the submarine until its overall density is greater than the surrounding water and the submarine begins to sink (negative buoyancy). A supply of compressed air is maintained aboard the submarine in air flasks for life support and for use with the ballast tanks. In addition, the submarine has movable sets of short "wings" called hydroplanes on the stern (back) that help to control the angle of the dive. The hydroplanes are angled so that water moves over the stern, which forces the stern upward; therefore, the submarine is angled downward. To keep the submarine level at any set depth, the submarine maintains a balance of air and water in the trim tanks so that its overall density is equal to the surrounding water (neutral buoyancy). When the submarine reaches its cruising depth, the hydroplanes are leveled so that the submarine travels level through the water. Water is also forced between the bow and stern trim tanks to keep the sub level. The submarine can steer in the water by using the tail rudder to turn starboard (right) or port (left) and the hydroplanes to control the fore-aft angle of the submarine. In addition, some submarines are equipped with a retractable secondary propulsion motor that can swivel 360 degrees. For any underwater enthusiast. Here’s why:1. Unmatched Exploration Experience: With a remote control submarine equipped with a camera, you can explore the underwater world like never before. You can maneuver the submarine through coral reefs, shipwrecks, and other underwater landscapes, capturing stunning footage and images that would otherwise be impossible to obtain.2. Safety First: Diving into the ocean comes with its own set of risks. However, with a remote control submarine, you can explore without putting yourself in harm’s way. This is particularly beneficial for those who are not trained divers or those who cannot physically dive due to health reasons.3. Cost-Effective: Owning a personal submarine may sound like an extravagant expense, but a remote control one with a camera is surprisingly affordable. You can have all the fun and adventure of diving without breaking the bank.4. Educational Tool: A remote control submarine with a camera can also be used as an educational tool for marine biology and ocean conservation studies. You can use it to observe marine life in their natural habitatMy Buying Guide on ‘Remote Control Submarine With Camera’As an avid underwater enthusiast, I have always been fascinated by the mysteries of the deep sea. So, when I came across a remote control submarine with a camera, I knew I had to have it. But before making the purchase, I did quite a bit of research to find the perfect one for my needs. Here is my comprehensive buying guide on remote control submarines with cameras.1. PurposeThe first and most important aspect to consider before buying a remote control submarine with a camera is its purpose. Are you planning to use it for recreational purposes such as exploring your pool or lake? Or do you want to use it for professional underwater photography? Knowing your purpose will help you narrow down your options and choose the right one.2. Depth and RangeThe depth and range capability of the submarine are crucial factors to consider depending on your purpose. If you plan on using it for shallow waters, then a submarine with a depth range of 10-15 feet would suffice. However, if you want to explore deeper waters or capture footage from different angles, then opt for a submarine with a higher depth range and longer control range.3. Camera QualityThe whole point of buying a remote control submarine with a camera is to capture stunning underwater footage. So, make sureAmazon.com: Submarine Window Decal

Universal History Archive//Getty ImagesThe Navy wants to start purchasing a new class of attack submarine, SSN(X), starting in 2031.SSN(X), or Next-Generation Attack Submarine, will focus on the traditional submarine mission of sinking ships. The Navy is also working on the new Columbia-class missile submarine.A Congressional Research Service report reveals new details about the U.S. Navy’s Next-Generation Attack Submarine, or SSN(X). The sub, which begins procurement in 10 years, will refocus the U.S.’s undersea fleet away from supporting land wars to fighting enemy fleets both above and below the waves. ➡ You love badass military tech. So do we. Let’s nerd out together. The Navy’s current attack submarine fleet consists of a mix of older Los Angeles-class submarines, Seawolf-class submarines (shown above), and the latest class of Virginia-class subs. The Virginia class, currently in production, was meant to combine an affordable platform with a submarine that could operate closer to shore and support the land conflicts of the 9/11 era. MARK SCHIEFELBEIN//Getty ImagesA Chinese Navy Type 039A attack submarine participating in a fleet review off Qingdao, 2019. The unprecedented peacetime expansion and modernization of China’s People’s Liberation Army Navy, as well as the introduction of new Russian attack and missile submarines, has prompted the U.S. Navy to begin development of SSN(X). Like the short-lived Seawolf class before it, SSN(X) will be built to directly take on enemy submarines and surface ships. A submarine focused on fighting other navies needs things the Virginias don’t have, including a strong hull for exceptionally deep diving, more torpedo tubes, and a larger internal torpedo/missile magazine. The subs will also likely be larger to accommodate linking up with and transporting uncrewed undersea vehicles. Alexander Ryumin//Getty ImagesRussian sailors at the launching of the nuclear-powered attack submarine Kazan, Severomorsk, Russia, March 2017.The new report says the Navy is examining three different options for SSN(X): a design based on the Columbia-class ballistic missile submarine, one based on the Virginia, and a brand-new design. A Columbia-based boat built for carrying nuclear missiles would be huge, but could cost a lot to operate down the road. A Virginia-based boat, meanwhile, would beComments
