If you can find such an instance, then I'd like to investigate it. I'm not currently aware of any problems caused by NOT using character references in "script" elements. In fact, I think that following the strict XHTML guidelines with regards to entities in "script" elements could cause more problems than it solves because of browser XHTML compatibility issues.Also, please remember that CSS HTML Validator was never meant to ensure strict validity. Instead, it is designed to help with real-world issues.If you need strict validity, then I recommend trying the nsgmls integration included with CSS HTML Validator Std/Pro v8.0. This will mix nsgmls messages (a DTD based validator more like the W3C validator) with CSS HTML Validator's own messages.
