Cindy says September 29, 2011 at 7:24 am These are truly AMAZING WONDERS – Ha!THRIFTY ALERT:VBS buddies — be looking for black fabric and sheets to go on sale right after Halloween for the Northern Lights display. berta says September 29, 2011 at 2:48 pm Cindy, that’s a great idea! Orville says September 29, 2011 at 6:05 pm Thanks for the photos. I’m making a collection of ideas which I plan to pass on to the teachers in my church and to the attendees at my session in our associational VBS clinic. There are many ways to decorate beyond the LifeWay posters. For VBS 2011 I used an I Love New York throw and a New York Mets quilt as photo backdrops. I found them at a closeout merchandise store for $3 each. The athletes in the bunch seemed to gravitate towards the Mets quilt. Roberta says September 30, 2011 at 7:52 am Orville,I love the idea of providing your leaders with theme-related decorating ideas that will work in your church. Thanks for the comment. ryo says September 30, 2011 at 12:38 pm Great! Well, I admire the precious time and effort you put into it, especially into interesting articles you share here! Out-of-the-box thinker will come up with a CHEAP and easy way to create some of the suggested scenes above. OH! And remember–it’s NOT about the scenery it’s about the Savior. Just because LifeWay makes the suggestion doesn’t mean stressing out about being able to–or not able to duplicate it as they have. One other thing–if you can at ALL attend one of the kickoff/preview events PLEASE DO IT! I went for the first time last year and it COMPLETELY changed my life and how I did things within my rotation!!!! 🙂 Best wishes and God bless! mary says October 5, 2011 at 9:15 pm To make the coral reef – pick up the blue plastic tablecloths from the local dollar tree wo drap over the walls of the entire room – then draw you fish and sea creatures on white contact paper – paint them bright colors – peal and stick onto the blue…… easy and looks great! Heather Fisher says October 6, 2011 at 9:16 am Oh hey, I didn’t mention this earlier–but because my fairly large church does VBS a week after the other churches in our area we share decorations and then we pass on to other churches. As the headline to this post proclaims, this Sunday is the annual National Day of Prayer for VBS.Each year, on the third Sunday of May, churches are encouraged to take time to pray not only for their own upcoming Vacation Bible Schools, but for churches down the street and around the world.VBS continues to be an extremely successful evangelistic outreach, resulting in 80,000 plus professions of faith each year in the Southern Baptist Convention alone. In addition to the thousands of decisions to become followers of Jesus Christ, approximately 2,500 kids, teens and adults each year make public the decision to pursue a career in ministry. And if these numbers are not enough to celebrate, as a result of VBS churches collectively identify approximately 1,000,000 unchurched individuals annually. Here are six opportunities to encourage your congregation and VBS team to join you in observance of the National Day of Prayer for VBS.1. Create and distribute a call to prayer. List specific prayer requests for your own church and team as well as the VBS dates of neighboring churches.2. Start the day early by asking your VBS team to join you for prayer prior to regularly scheduled activities.3. Work with your pastor and worship leader to include prayer for VBS in the morning service.4. Schedule an afternoon prayer walk through and around the buildings that will be used for VBS. After the team has prayed for your church, travel throughout the community stopping to pray for churches displaying VBS banners and signs.5.. Rainforest Clip Art - Lifeway Vbs 2025 Theme. . 8. 1. Contemporary audience.Limited use of the latest scholarship?Another criticism of the CSB is that it may not incorporate the latest scholarship and discoveries in biblical studies. Some scholars argue that the translation committee responsible for the CSB did not adequately consider or incorporate recent advancements in textual criticism and biblical interpretation. However, it is important to recognize that biblical scholarship is an ongoing and evolving field. The CSB translation committee consisted of respected biblical scholars who carefully evaluated various manuscripts and textual traditions to produce an accurate and reliable translation. While it may not incorporate every single new discovery or interpretation, the CSB is based on a rigorous and scholarly approach that ensures the integrity of the biblical text.It is also worth mentioning that the CSB has received positive feedback from many individuals and organizations within the Christian community. The translation has been endorsed by respected scholars and pastors, and it has gained popularity among believers for its balance of accuracy and readability.Suspicions of Commercial MotivationsThe Christian Standard Bible (CSB) has not been exempt from criticism and controversy, with some skeptics raising suspicions about the commercial motivations behind its publication. These concerns revolve around two main subheadings: the fact that it is published by LifeWay Christian Resources and the possibility that it is part of a broader marketing strategy.Published by LifeWay Christian ResourcesThe CSB is published by LifeWay Christian Resources, a well-known Christian publishing company. While this association lends credibility to the translation, it has also raised eyebrows among critics. Some argue that the involvement of a commercial entity like LifeWay may compromise the integrity and objectivity of the translation process. They question whether profit motives could potentially influence the translation choices and compromise the accuracy of the CSB.It is worth noting, however, that LifeWay Christian Resources has a long-standing reputation for producing high-qualityVBS: It's Worth It - VBS 2025 - Lifeway VBS
Strategic. Greear is clearly Al Mohler's choice for SBC president since he is being nominated by one of Mohler's lieutenants, Jimmy Scroggins. You may recall that several years ago Greear served on the committee that pushed for the re-naming of the SBC to "Great Commission Baptists". Now that The Gospel Project® is being used far and wide (see screen shot below), maybe some of the messengers who will be voting in two weeks will see Greear's name in their Sunday School lesson and cast their vote for him… No doubt that's what The Gospel Project® crowd is hoping. If there were ever a scheming group of Christians, it would be the Neo-Cals who have stealthily trying to take over the Southern Baptist Convention. Mohler has been successful in gaining control of the NAMB (via his former pastor Kevin Ezzell) and the IMB (led by his disciple David Platt). And now the presidency is nearly in his grasp… Just in case you're curious about the latest and greatest LifeWay Bible study, here is Trevin Wax with his introduction to The Gospel Project®. Finally, here is the link to an open letter to Drs. Thom Ranier and Ed Stetzer and the LifeWay Trustees from by a Southern Baptist pastor in Florida. It was written back in 2012 when The Gospel Project® was being launched. Here is a significant portion of that letter. I do have serious concerns with Lifeway’s labeling this project simply as “the Gospel Project” with no reference to its theologically leaning perspective. The administration of Lifeway knows full well that Baptist churches have looked to Lifeway for decades for theologically pertinent literature for their members. Many churches will see the promotional information on the “Gospel Project” that is new and exciting and Lifeway knows churches will purchase the literature.VBS 2025 - Magnified! - Lifeway VBS
Churches often discover more unchurched individuals and families during VBS than all the rest of the weeks of the year combined. Collectively we discover over 1,000,000 unchurched individuals each year. Ten percent of all VBS attendees are from unchurched families. When you add parents and siblings not attending VBS, the typical VBS results in 35 to 40 unchurched individuals. When parents decide to allow their kids to attend VBS, they are taking a step (whether they realize it or not) towards connecting with both the Gospel and the church. How we respond, and whether or not a connection is made, is up to the church. We can leave connections to chance, or we can implement action steps such as the following:Commit to using VBS to create intentional connections with unchurched families.Train the registration team to collect complete information on each family.Train greeters to gather sufficient information to connect unchurched parents with members of the church who are of similar age, similar family structures, or have similar interest.Train workers to embrace the responsibility of getting to know parents as well as kids.Create a VBS Celebration (Family Night) experience that encourages conversation and interaction.Work with ministry leaders in advance to create opportunities that will continue and strengthen connections with unchurched parents discovered during VBS.For more ideas on connecting with parents check out How Are You Connecting With Parents? and Using Takin’ It Home CD to Connect with ParentsJOIN THE CONVERSATION: How have you used VBS to intentionally connect with unchurched families. -->Reader Interactions.
