Don’t know how to use it correctly. And since returning items is a time-consuming hassle, the gadget that should have made my life easier becomes an expensive paper holder on my desk until I give it away. Each lifestyle zone has a different focus - music, fitness, fun, home automation, business and customization. In each zone, you’ll find a specialist who can guide you from problem to solution with ease. In the Get Fit area, I was able to touch and feel a product I have had my eye on for awhile – the Fitbit. The specialists had me hop on a treadmill, put on the Fitbit Zip and walk. Showing me the app as I casually strolled, I was able to get a feel for the product and learn if it was right for me.The Have Fun zone is popular with grownups, but kids are really going to love it (which makes taking the little ones to the wireless store so much more enjoyable). I predict the Orbotix Sphero 2.0 Robotic Gaming System will be a huge seller, especially because you can try it out on the mini golf course. While the experience zones are fun, I loved the Wireless Workshop Zone. “The average person is only using about 10% of their phones capabilities,” Tracey told me as he set up my phone to receive files via NFC. “The Wireless Workshops are free and will help you use your device to its maximum capabilities.” Through the holidays, the wireless workshop

Introduction: 3D Printed Light-Up Kaleidoscope With Wireless LEDsToday we’re building an LED kaleidoscope. This 3D-printed project comes together with no glue or fasteners and contains wireless LEDs to create fun patterns. The inductive power coil lives in the base.I didn’t design this kaleidoscope– My friend Debra Ansell from Geek Mom Projects did. You can check out her tutorial to see more information about this project, access the files to make your own, or browse Debra’s other projects. You can also follow her on social media @geekmomprojects.SuppliesThis project uses a combination of 3D-printed components, electronics, and components that can be either laser-cut or cut by hand, depending on the materials you choose. Here’s everything you’ll need:Small inductive coil and wireless LED kitExtra wireless LEDs, if you wish5V power source such as 5V AC adapter, USB backup battery, or ~5v alkaline battery packmade solder-free with a barrel jack-to-screw-terminal adapter and barrel jack USB cableSoldering tools and supplies (optional depending on your power setup)3D printer filament in transparent (for LED diffusers) and opaque color(s) of your choice.Mirror sheet, either 1/16″ acrylic (for laser cutting or scoring+snapping) or thinner mirror sheet you can cut with scissors.Clear acrylic, either precut 3″ discs or up to 1/8″ thick sheet if laser cutting3D files from Debra’s tutorialStep 1: Watch the VideoWatch the video to see a full explanation of the design. I printed the pieces from Debra's files, and then visited her workshop, where she walked me through putting it all together. Step 2: 3D Print the PartsFirst, you’ll need to 3D print all of the STL files from the Geek Mom Projects design documentation. Debra recommends using iridescent two-color filament, which is what is shown here. You’ll need one large triangular body, two eyepieces, one eyepiece cover, one LED container, and one coil holder. In transparent filament, print out ten LED covers, or adjust the number to match the number of LEDs you are using.Step 3: Laser or Hand-cut Mirrors and LensesYou’ll also need to cut the mirror pieces and clear acrylic lenses. You can use a laser cutter for this, but you can also use thinner material and cut the pieces by hand. You’ll need:Rectangular mirrors: 3x 160mm x 55mm, no thicker than 1/16″ (1.6mm)Clear lenses: 2x 3″ (76.2mm) diameter circles, no thicker than 1/8″ (3.2mm)Step 4: Assemble the BodyTo start assembling your kaleidoscope, you’ll need the main extruded triangle body piece and the end pieces. To attach each end piece, match the three inverted dots with the corresponding dots on the main body, and pop them into place. Depending on your tolerances, you may need to use a soft mallet to tap the pieces into place.Next, to create the eyepiece, place one of your circular. Use SQL. The development of such models is critical as today there are several data management systems that for performance reason do not use SQL. This paper is an excellent starting point for everyone interested in advances in access control models. F. Akeel, A. S. Fathabadi, F. Paci, A. Gravell, and G. Wills in “Formal Modelling of Data Integration Systems Security Policies” address the challenging problem of assuring data confidentiality, privacy, and trust in the context of data integration systems. The paper, after providing a comprehensive set of system requirements toward addressing such problem, presents formal methods for the verification of security policies specified for the integrated data. This paper is an excellent reference for anyone interested in exploring data security in the context of data integration systems. J. Kim and S. Nepal in “Cryptographically Enforced Access Control with a Flexible User Revocation on Untrusted Cloud Storage” focus on the challenging problem of revoking user authorizations for access to encrypted data stored in the cloud. Extensive experimental results reported in the paper show that their approach is efficient. S. Badsha, X. Yi, and I. Khalil in “A Practical Privacy-Preserving Recommender System” show a cryptographic approach by which one can build recommender systems that preserve the privacy of data used for deriving the recommendations. J. Wang and X. Chen in “Efficient and Secure Storage for Outsourced Data: A Survey” also focus on security for data stored in the cloud. Their paper, however, focuses on the challenging issue of data integrity. The paper presents a comprehensive survey of key integrity techniques designed specifically for data outsourcing platforms and also discusses integrity techniques in the context of data deduplication—a technique widely used to reduce storage costs when outsourcing data. Finally, C. Wang, W. Zheng, and E. Bertino in “Provenance for Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey” provide a comprehensive discussion on state-of-the-art data provenance techniques. Such techniques are a critical factor for assessing data trustworthiness in unprotected and large-scale distributed systems of small devices, such as sensors and IoT devices. Future issues of DSE will include additional invited papers and special issues focusing on novel challenging research topics concerning data security, trustworthiness, and privacy.I hope you will enjoy this issue and find interesting research results and directions from the papers in the issue.
